What do I mean by that?
Be a Content Hero by Serving Your Customers
A fundamental part of loving your customers requires you to focus on serving your customers, not just selling to them.
One of the best ways to serve your customers is to first understand what they need. Check out my other post to learn about sending a customer feedback questionnaire.
With that understanding, then you can help your customers learn what they need to KNOW to help them solve their problems and reach their goals.
The good news is that one of the best forms of marketing today is content marketing.
Even if you’re unfamiliar with the term content marketing, you probably already create content marketing for your customers. What is it?
Content marketing is the creation and sharing of content (in the form of blog posts, videos, podcasts, reports, and more) to give value to your target audience and by so doing also build interest in your products and services.
A Content Hero Gives Value
A key ingredient in that definition is ‘to give value‘.
A lot of businesses spew out a lot of content, but that content is not giving much value to their target audience.
If you want to be your customers’ content hero and create content that drives your audience to trust you and purchase your products and services, you MUST create content that gives substantial value to your audience.
How do you do that?
To be a content hero you need to know your customers’ biggest problem, the obstacles holding them back, and the goals they want to achieve. Then you need to create and share content that helps them take measurable steps toward solving their big problem, overcoming the obstacles, and reaching their goals.
Content that only informs, but doesn’t help them take measurable action and progress, is a waste of space on the internet. It’s also a waste of your time and the time of your audience.

A Content Hero Helps them Take Action and Reach Goals
To be a content hero, focus each piece of content you create on helping your audience take one (or multiple) steps closer toward solving their problem, overcoming an obstacle, and reaching their goal. Before you create any piece of content, always ask yourself the following questions.
- What step do my ideal customers most need to take right now?
- Will this piece of content effectively help them take that step?
- If not, how can I modify the focus of this piece of content to better help them successfully take that step?
Be a Content Hero and Take Action Yourself
I encourage you to answer the three questions listed above.
With those answers in hand, commit to creating a piece of content, in any format, that best helps your ideal customers take at least one step closer toward solving their big problem, overcoming an obstacle, and reaching their goals.
